Free Window Film Sample — Posted to You

Architectural window film looks different in a showroom under fluorescent than it does in a Burnside living room at 4pm in February. The free-sample funnel exists for that reason. Tell us which film direction you’re thinking about, where the windows face, and the rough scope; we post a 5×5cm swatch (or a swatch set, where you’re between two directions) in the post inside two business days. The measurement-and-quote site visit follows once you’ve held the film against your own light.

Why a sample first, not a quote first

Most architectural-film buyers walk in with one of two questions: “will this film actually cut the heat?” or “will this film change how the room looks?” Neither question is answerable from a brochure. The film has to be held against the light it’s actually going to live behind.

That’s the whole reason the free-sample funnel sits separately from the quote page. The sample is a low-friction micro-commitment that gives you the information a sales call can’t:

  • You see the film against your own furniture. The same solar-control film that reads “subtle bronze” in a showroom can read “pleasant warmth” against a Burnside oak floor and “wrong” against a Stirling Hills concrete-and-glass interior. Your room is the only fair test.
  • You see the film against your own light. Visible Light Transmission of 35% is a number; what matters is whether the room still feels right at 4pm in February with the film holding 78% of the solar heat off the floor. A sample held against the actual window for an afternoon answers that.
  • You don’t have to commit to a site visit yet. The sample arrives, you live with it for a week, you call us back if it makes sense. If it doesn’t, no hard feelings — we’d rather post a swatch that lands wrong than book a site visit that wastes everyone’s afternoon.

Which film direction the swatch covers

Pick the film need on the form and the right swatch lands in your post box. Where you’re between two directions, tell us in the textarea — we send a swatch set instead of a single sample.

  • Solar / heat-rejection film. West-facing living rooms, north-Adelaide rear extensions, Stirling acreage facades, Mawson Lakes townhouse main-living glazing. Heat rejection up to ~78%, UV blocked >99%, view-through preserved. Sample is the right test for “will the room still feel light?”.
  • UV-protective film. Heritage interiors with timber floors and soft furnishings that are fading; leadlight rooms where you want the UV blocked without altering the aesthetic; Hills homes with passive-solar north glazing where the light matters but the fade doesn’t. Sample shows you the near-clear option that blocks 99% UV.
  • Privacy / frosted film. Bathrooms, ensuites, partitions, street-facing front-of-house glazing. Sample shows you the opacity options — full-pane, mid-band, gradient, etched-pattern — so you can match the privacy level to the room.
  • Security / safety film. Pre-1990 non-safety glazing, retail shopfronts, schools, childcare, bushfire-fringe homes. Sample shows you the near-clear safety film that upgrades the assembly to AS/NZS 2208 Grade A or Grade B without replacing the glass.
  • Decorative film. Custom patterns, manifestation marks, branded glazing, retail fit-outs, office breakouts. Sample shows you the pattern catalogue and the application reality.
  • Not sure. Tick “Not sure — please advise” in the form and tell us what the room is doing wrong. We post a curated three-swatch set (typically a solar, a UV-only, and a privacy at the right opacity) and call to talk it through.

What’s in the sample post-out

Each swatch is a 5×5cm cut of the actual architectural-grade film we install — same brand, same WERS rating, same construction as what goes on your window. Posted with:

  • The film performance card for that swatch — Total Solar Energy Rejected, Visible Light Transmission, UV blocked, SHGC, manufacturer brand, warranty term.
  • A WERS for Film reference showing the rating the swatch carries on the AGWA / WFAANZ accreditation register.
  • Application notes — which glass types the film suits, whether it works on existing single-glazed, toughened, laminated or double-glazed glass.
  • A tape-it-up tip card — how to hold the swatch against the glass for the most honest test (cleanly, against the inside, with the room as it normally lives at 3–5pm).

No follow-up sales call until you call us back. No marketing emails. The sample is the sample.

What happens after you request a sample

  1. Form lands in our inbox. We read it the same business day or first thing the next morning.
  2. Sample posted in two business days. Express post to metro Adelaide; standard post to Hills and outer suburbs adds a day or two.
  3. You hold the swatch against your own window. Live with it for a few days if you want. The film looks different at different times of day; a Monday-morning hold and a Friday-afternoon hold tell different stories.
  4. You call us back when it makes sense. No automated follow-ups. If the sample lands wrong and you want a different direction, ring and we’ll post the alternative.
  5. Measurement-and-quote site visit once you’ve decided. 30–45 minutes on site, no obligation. Written quote inside two business days — names the film brand, the WERS rating, the visible light transmission, the SHGC, the warranty term, the AS standard the work runs to.

What the sample funnel is not for

  • Window cleaning. If you’re after a clean booked this week, the book-online flow is the right entry. The sample funnel is film only.
  • Automotive tinting. Vista Fox does architectural / residential / commercial film only. For automotive work, your local automotive trim shop is the right call.
  • Commercial cleaning quotes. Body-corp routes, retail strips, office contracts — use the quote page or the commercial cleaning service page.

Want to talk to a person first?

Call Vista Fox — Mon–Fri 7am–5:30pm, Sat 8am–2pm.

For a written quote on a film job where you already know the direction, the quote page skips the sample step. For a film research conversation, this page is the right entry — and the swatch in the post is the better answer than a sales pitch on the phone.
